Huey Wong is an art director, designer, and illustrator with a strong passion for innovative ideas, brand identity, illustration and typography. He grew up in Sydney, Australia and recently moved to Hong Kong (his unfamiliar homeland).
He’s always had an uncontrollable urge to draw, and often finds himself filling all his high school text books, notebooks, desks and chairs with meaningless but sometimes funny doodles. He once uploaded a really bad hannya mask drawing onto Deviant Art and it managed to get 125,000 views and 75,000 downloads. After studying Visual Communications at Billy Blue, he spent the first 5 years of his career at Ideaworks Y&R as an art director working with clients such as LG, Onitsuka Tiger, Coates Hire, and Muffin Break.
In 2014 he decided to become a freelance brand designer working with Iconika on brands such as Furi Knives, and Sydney Ferries. After a brief 1 year stint at BMF as an art director, he finally settled at Hoyne Design, specialising in property branding and campaign where he picked up a few awards along the way.
Huey has decided to take on a new challenge to move to Hong Kong to collaborate on new and interesting projects so if you have an opportunity or project you would like to discuss, please get in touch:-
